With the new simultaneous thermal analyzer STA 409 PC Luxx® it is possible to offer our well-proven quality at a very attractive price. Mass changes (thermogravimetry), characteristic temperatures and enthalpy changes (differential scanning calorimetry) can be determined on one sample in one measurement.

A state-of-the-art MS®Windows (TM) software package is delivered with the instrument.

Application Example: Aragonite

Aragonite is a polymorphic modification of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The sample tested here was a crystal with slight impurities on the surface (exothermal peaks at 461 and 490°C). Due to the impurities the mass loss during carbonate decomposition (43.71%) is lower than the stoichiometrically calculated value (43.97%).
